Jan Fridrich z Valdštejna - Arcibiskup a mecenáš doby rekatolizace Jiří Havlík

Arcibiskup Jan Fridrich (Bedrich) z Valdštejna (1642–1694) patrí k významným postavám ceských dejin 17. století. Ve 2. polovine století predstavoval práve on nejvyšší autoritu ceského duchovenstva – organizoval prubeh rekatolizace, mimo jiné prostrednictvím spolupráce s církevními rády, rekonstrukce farní síte, literárního mecenátu a dalšími metodami. Neváhal jakožto neoficiální hlava ceské katolické církve vstoupit do konfliktu s císarským dvorem, když se domníval, že jsou ohrožena privilegia církve. Tato stránka pusobení Jana Fridricha z Valdštejna, „preláta pevného ve svém presvedcení“, je dosud málo zpracovaná a v knize se jí dostává náležité pozornosti. Pražský arcibiskup také stál v centru kulturního dení a shromáždil okolo sebe umelce, literáty i hudebníky. Jeho život a pusobení poskytuje komplexní vhled do kulturního a politického vývoje ceského státu a církve v období, které zdaleka nebylo jen dobou „temna“. Monografie Jirího Havlíka se zabývá i druhým životem Jana Fridricha z Valdštejna, sleduje pokusy predstavit ho jako príklad zbožného života a príkladného umírání.

Velkorysý projekt podrobné uměleckohistorické topografie Prahy, jehož první díl – Staré Město pražské a Josefov – vyšel v roce 1996 a v dalších letech následovaly publikace pojednávající o dalších historických městech pražských (Nové Město s Vyšehradem, Malá Strana a Pražský hrad a Hradčany), se nyní uzavírá druhým dílem topografie Velké Prahy, to znamená měst a obcí postupně k Praze připojovaných. V roce 2012 vyšel díl s podtitulem Velká Praha, A–L, a jeho pokračováním je tato publikace, Velká Praha, M–Ž, s ohledem na rozsah rozdělená do dvou svazků. Zdálo by se, že hlavní bohatství pražského památkového fondu je koncentrováno ve výše zmíněných historických městech pražských. I v širším pražském centru (ve čtvrtích, jako jsou Vinohrady, Karlín, Vršovice a další) a v okrajových částech Prahy se však nachází velké množství stavebních památek středověkých, renesančních, barokních i pozdějších: tvrzí, zámků, kostelů, kaplí, usedlostí, vil, činžovních domů, pomníků atd.Rovněž v tomto dílu je zachována struktura předešlých publikací. Kniha ječleněna podle katastrálních území, u každého z nich předchází výkladu o jednotlivých památkách úvodní kapitola o historickém, stavebním i demografickém vývoji daného území od pravěku do současnosti, včetně archeologických nálezů. Následují hesla věnovaná kostelům a kaplím, hřbitovům, veřejné plastice a drobným uměleckým dílům a nakonec jednotlivým objektům podle čísel popisných. V každém hesle se autoři snaží přesně identifikovat místo, dále podávají stručný výklad o historii objektu a uvádějí jeho popis a charakteristiku, na závěr každého hesla jsou zařazeny odkazy na prameny a literaturu, případně i na historickou ikonografii.Stejně jako v předešlých dílech, i zde čerpá obrazový doprovod spíše z historické dokumentace jednotlivých architektonických děl, nechybí ani půdorysné rozbory a stavební plány. Rejstříky umožňují vyhledávání jednotlivých památek podle uličních adres, podle jmen jejich tvůrců, ale také podle typu staveb – stejně jako tomu bylo v předešlých dílech. Čtenář má k dispozici také rozsáhlý přehled použité literatury.
