Lost and unable to find his way back home, Baree is tragically separated from his family, and is forced to find his own refuge. Though he tries to find his own pack, Baree is quickly shunned. In search of a new community and home, Baree begins friendships with bears, beavers, and other animals until he meets his closest friend of all-a young girl named Nepeese.
