It has been adapted in cinema and television many times. It was finally published fully in the 1960s. Fanny Hill is a beautifully written work, lyrical and down-to-earth as well as undoubtedly erotic.
It still retains its controversial power. Above all, it is a pleasure to read. Illustrated by Paul Avril (1843-1928), one of the great modern erotic artists, with the illustrations Avril produced for the 1908 edition of Fanny Hill.
