Every year during Fire Prevention week I would read a story to the pre-school and kindergartener classes in our community. This book I want to teach the children the importance ok knowing how to call for the fire department by calling 9-1-1 and knowing where you are and what the problem is. Once the story is read the children can then ask me a question about anything, however I try to keep it fire safety related.
Testing your smoke detectors in your home is an important factor in keeping your family safe when we are asleep. Some other safety lessons are having a meeting place outside your home in the event you have a fire in your home. All of these factors are important to your personal family, however it makes the firefighters jobs a little easier as well.
I want the book to be enjoyable, a learning tool as I just described and also inspirational to a young girl or boy to maybe one
