Although many excellent texts and references were available covering various aspects and methods of Histopathological techniques, the lack of a concise comprehensive guide to using these methods was a major motivation for writing this book. This book has a concise format, with protocols and instructions for methods immediately following the short introductory theoretical material in each chapter. Our intention was to create an easy-to-read and focused resource based on state-of-the-art information for a broad readers ranging from students and technical assistants to experienced researchers.
This guide provides practical advice on best-practice techniques and simple ways to avoid common errors. It is suitable for those with limited time and immediate information needs. Each aspect of the histology process is covered: specimen collection, processing, embedding, sectioning and staining (routine, special, immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization).
Ultimately, we hope that we have produced a modern and relevant histotechnology text which will be of use to those in training as well as established practitioners worldwide.
